Natural Prevention and Herbal Remedies for Migraines Pain Relief
The term migraine comes from the Greek word, hemicrania. Translated literally, hemicrania means "half head".

A migraine is not just your common, uncomfortable headache. Frequently, the headache will be on one side of the head or the other and will occur as a pulsating or throbbing pain. These symptoms can be so severe the person may experience nausea and vomiting. Sensitivity to light and noise is almost always a side effect and the migraine can last anywhere from three or four hours to four days.

There are several types of migraines and they can be preceded with an aura. An aura is a disturbance experienced by some people prior to the onset of a migraine; anywhere between a couple of seconds to as long as an hour. There are several ways an aura can appear. In your vision; bright lights and zigzag lines. Some symptoms are similar to stroke victims, such as numbness or tingling on one side of the body and the inability to speak properly, but they don't come on as quickly. The aura symptoms can last from 5 minutes up to an hour.

There are many things that can bring on a migraine. Physical or emotional stress; skipping meals and certain foods, such as alcohol, aged cheese, chocolate, fermented or pickled foods, to name a few; a change in sleep; changes in the weather, high humidity combined with a change in temperature and certain medications. Replace the chemical-based medications you're taking with natural herbal remedies that are safe, effective and non-toxic.

If you can avoid the onset of the migraine, the steps you may need to take to avoid the pain are certainly well worth the effort. First the obvious, avoid what brings them on, if at all possible. If you've identified certain food or food groups that seem to have triggered your headaches, remove them from your diet. Pay attention to what you were doing or eating just prior to the onset of your migraines, keep a log, see if there is a connection and make changes accordingly. Since stress can be one of the triggers. A great stress buster is exercise. Develop an exercise program you'll be willing to do on a regular basis and make it a daily routine. But don't overdo, that can be the cause of a migraine.

More women than men suffer from migraines. A possible explanation may be the fact that migraines can be triggered by hormonal changes. Again, track your migraines. Are they connected with the estrogen medication you're taking? Replace it with a safe, effective natural hormonal formula, free of chemicals. If your birth control pills are triggering your migraines, consider the safe, natural, effective, chemical free formula alternative.

Summing it up, keep a record of what you're doing just prior to getting your migraines and make lifestyle changes. Exercise, learn to relax, stress is a big factor in migraines. Get enough rest. To minimize the severity of the migraine, when you feel a migraine coming on or the aura beginning, if possible, rest in a quiet, dark room with a cool cloth on the back of your neck. Most importantly, change from chemical-based medicines to herbal formulas for relief.
